Sports, Team FYN Sports September 30, 2018
Game 2 of the post season match up between the Lady Rebels and the Lady Tigers found Dawson 1 down and looking to get a win to tie the series and live to play another game.
After the loss to Fannin earlier in the day Dawson sent Maggie Schandera to the circle to avenge the previous game’s outcome at the hands of the Lady Rebels. Schandera stood tall and completed her task as she allowed only 2 runs on seven hits to very good Fannin line up. Going scoreless through 4 full innings the Lady Rebels broke the zeros on the board in the bottom of the fifth with 2 runs. That would be all for the Fannin offense against a dominate pitcher in Schandera. The Lady Cats hitters put up 4 runs on 8 hits in the game. The Dawson runs came in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings to finish the game with a score of 4-2.
Getting it done at the plate were Carol Drak(1 for 4 with 1 run scored), Brandi Williams(2 for 3 with a run scored), Maggie Schandera(1-4 with 1 RBI) and Bella Henson(2 for 3, with a run scored. Lady Tigers Come Up Short To The Trojans
Sports, Team FYN Sports August 29, 2018
The Lady Tigers traveled to the northern end of Hall County on Monday for a region game against the Trojans of North Hall. It was a game that Dawson’s offense couldn’t get anything going as they faced a strong Trojan team. The Trojan defense committed four uncharacteristic errors to aid the Lady Tigers in putting up the one run scored.
As stated above the Lady Tigers put up one lonely run and it came in the top of the first as Carol Drake reached on an error by the Trojan shortstop allowing Drake to advance to second and still third base with Brandi Williams at the plate. Williams also reached on an error after a hard-hit grounder to second and was botched by the Trojan player. Drake crossed the plate as an unearned run for Dawson. Offensively that would be it for the Lady Tiger scoring. Carol Drake and Kaselyn Martin would be the only players to reach base by hits off of a very strong Trojan pitcher in K. Chase who had ten strikeouts on 82 pitches.
North Hall would score five runs with on each in the third, fourth and sixth adding two in the fifth for the 5-1 victory over Dawson. Maggie Schandera coming off of a preseason knee surgery has pitched very well this year and will continue to do so. In this game, Schandera threw 77 pitches(59 strikes) giving up 5 runs with two being earned and eight hits in the loss.
Next up for the Lady Tigers will be on Tuesday, Aug. 28th at home against Fannin with a start time of 5:55PM
