Charles Robin Ryles, 37, of Dawsonville, GA, formerly of Savannah, passed away at his residence on Sunday, February 16, 2020. Known to his family as “Little Robin”, he was a loving son, fiancé and friend who cheered on the Georgia Bulldogs with gusto, spoiled his pups, Bella and Dawson, cooked gourmet meals for those he loved and relished every opportunity to spend quality time with his family.
Robin is survived by his loving fiancée, Debbie Faith McEwen, of Dawsonville; his adoptive mother, LaRose Ryles of Brunswick (formerly of Savannah); his biological father, Charles Robin Rhodes and wife, Pennie, of Stafford, Virginia; his step-siblings Sheila R. Ford, Susan D. Lingenfelser, and George Thomas Ryles III all of Savannah ; his uncle, James Ross Rhodes, of Brunswick, many cousins and dear friends.
He was preceded in death 6 days prior by his adoptive father, George Thomas Ryles, Jr., who together with LaRose, raised him from the age of 3. He was also very fond of his maternal grandmother, Janie C. Stokes, of Oliver, GA, who passed when he was 14 years old.
Robin was employed with Parmenter, LLC in Atlanta as an engineer at the time of his passing.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1400 Norwich Street, Brunswick, GA, with The Reverend Doctor Wright Culpepper officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the service in the fellowship hall of the church where light appetizers and beverages will be served. Interment will be private.

Anita Mae Gauss, 90, of Dawsonville passed away Thursday February 20, 2020 at her residence.
Born November 9, 1929 in Marshall, Michigan to the late Starla and Berdine Clute, she had lived in Dawson County for over 40 years having moved from Hialeah, Florida. Mrs. Gauss retired as a Registered Nurse with the Hall County Health Department. A loving wife, mother, and best friend, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert “Bob” Gauss.
Surviving are her children, Carol Gauss, Dawsonville, Robert, Jr. and Ameli Gauss, Flagler Beach, FL, Tina and Tobin McAfee, Dawsonville; multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Alice Townsend, Marshall, Michigan; brother in law, Richard Gauss, Sanford, Florida.
Services for Mrs. Gauss will be held in Marshall, Michigan at a later date.

George M. “Jim” Bennett, 92, of Cumming passed away Tuesday February 11, 2020 at his residence.
Born December 19, 1927, Mr. Bennett was a lifelong resident of Forsyth County. A devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, he was a good man with a kind and gentle spirit. He owned and operated Bennett’s Service Station for over 40 years until his retirement in 2004. Mr. Bennett is preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Vinnie Bennett and 11 brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Willise Bennett; daughter, Joyce Odum; son and daughter in law, Randy and Dale Bennett, all of Cumming; grandson, Byron and Kristin Bennett of Dawsonville; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Stella and Knox; a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Thursday February 13, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Garry English and Rev. Danny Ray Martin will officiate. Interment will follow in Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 12 noon until the hour of service.

Jane Sweatman Padgett: Obituary

Jane Sweatman Padgett, 66, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday February 9, 2020 at Northside Forsyth Hospital following a period of declining health.
Born May 5, 1953 in Forsyth County to the late Robert and Lillie Dockery, she had lived in Dawson County since 1993. Along with her husband, she owned and operated J&R Cleaning. Jane was very devoted to her family and enjoyed fishing and camping. She was of the Baptist faith and was also preceded in death by her brothers, Roy Dockery and Cicero Dockery.
Surviving are her husband, Rodney Padgett, Dawsonville; children, Jamie Sweatman, Dawsonville, Kristi Wilkinson, Jasper, Matt Padgett, Ellijay, Mary Hogan, Canton, Blake York, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Malory, John, Dale, Daniel, Dustin, Casey, Makayla, Gracie; great granddaughters, Kali, Ember; sisters, Lorene Lord, Dahlonega, Mary Lou Brannon, Cumming; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 11, 2020 at 1 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Michael James Pirkle and Rev. Chris Boling will officiate. Interment will follow in the Tinsley Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.

Steven Howard McCreary: Obituary

Steven Howard McCreary, 58, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday February 9, 2020 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born October 23, 1961 in Reed City, Michigan, he had lived in White County and Murrayville before moving to Dawsonville in 2013. Mr. McCreary spent his entire working career in wastewater management and retired as a supervisor with Gwinnett County. When he moved to Dawsonville, he was welcomed with open arms by Cornerstone Christian Church where he still served as an Elder. He walked with God every step here on Earth and we know that he is walking with God today. A loving and devoted husband and dad, he welcomed each member of his growing family with his loving heart. Steven was preceded in death by his mother, Vicky McCreary, and a sister, June McCreary.
Surviving are his wife, Tammy McCreary, Dawsonville; children, Anne and Tyler Holt, Virginia, Rafe and Kara Huth, Gainesville, Donnie and Kaity Latlippe, Kentucky, Nickie and Chris Walker, Gainesville, Christopher and Danielle Latlippe, Gainesville; father, Stan and Polly McCreary, Missouri; siblings, Lare and Amy McCreary, Woodstock, Laura Geary, Paul Heldermon; eleven beloved grandchildren, Alexis, Aiden, Brysen, Steven, Kanyen, Jasmine, Kaylean, Brent, Payton, Parker, Paxton; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday February 14, 2020 at 2 o’clock at Cornerstone Christian Church. Pastor Mike Frazier will officiate. Interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 until 8 at the funeral home.

Rosalie “Rose” Chumbler, 59, of Dawsonville, GA passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020. She was a loving mother and grandmother whom loved to make jewelry and listen to music.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Ina Belle Chumbler; brother, David Young; and grandparents, Robert and Kina Chumbler; cousin, Shannon Chumbler.
She is survived by her children, Christy and Micheal, Sr. Castleberry of Dawsonville, GA, Loyd Allen of Dawsonville, GA; grandchildren, Micheal Jr, Madelyn, Vincent, Pierce and Ivy; uncle and aunt, Larry and Debbie Chumbler of Cumming, GA; and numerous other relatives survive.
A Celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Christian Church, Dawsonville, GA. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until service time.

Marshall Reagan, 67, of Dawsonville passed away Thursday February 6, 2020 at his residence following a sudden illness.
Born January 9, 1953 to the late Edward and Fannie Reagan, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. For many years he was employed by Reagan Fence Company and he enjoyed woodworking, gardening and camping. Marshall was also preceded in death by his sister, Garnetta Fields; and brothers, Dale Reagan, Garland Reagan and Howard Reagan.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Elaine Reagan, Dawsonville; son, Jarrod Reagan, Dawsonville; sisters and brothers in law, Kathryn Smith, Dawsonville, Barbara and Steve Kuhn, Greer, SC, Carolyn and Dorsey Sweatman, Dawsonville; brothers and sisters in law, Steve and Ann Reagan, Ball Ground, Butch and Sheila Reagan, Dawsonville; and a number of other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and Concord Baptist Church.

Jimmy Roland, 81, of Dahlonega passed away Wednesday February 5, 2020 at Gold City Nursing Home following a period of declining health.
Born September 25, 1938 to the late Earl and Ida Mae Roland, he was a native of Dawson County and had lived in Lumpkin County a number of years. Jimmy enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his pets. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Nora Neal, Bobbie Duncan, Betty Waters, Lorene Ayers; and a brother, Dewey Roland.
Surviving are his brother and sister in law, Billy and Annie Roland, Dawsonville; sister, Jean Bryant, Cumming; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Sharon Eberhard, 63, of Cumming, Georgia, exited this world on February 1, 2020 after a battle with melanoma.
A beloved mother, daughter, sister, friend, coworker, and Green Bay Packers fan, Sharon did not like to be the center of attention, nor did she like people to make a fuss over her. She was a long time employee of Lee Dawkins Insurance Agency and truly loved working. She loved it so much that after her first cancer treatment, she wanted to go back to work.
She was raised in Steven’s Point, Wisconsin and had resided in Cumming, Georgia for much of her adult life.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Samantha Higginbotham, mother, LaVerne Eberhard, sister, Janice Zdzieblowski, and brothers, Kent Eberhard, Keith Eberhard, and Jim Eberhard. She is also survived by a niece and three nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Eberhard, sister, Nancy Tillman, and two nephews.
A celebration of life will occur in the summer and a piece of advice from Sharon is for everyone to check their moles.

Leon “Doug” Bearden, 77, of Calhoun, GA passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Kennestone Hospital, Marietta, GA. He was a member of Amicalola Baptist Church, Dawsonville, GA. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved to help people. He loved to tinker with anything mechanical and was known as a Jack of All Trades.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Eva Bearden; daughter, Tiffany Cochran; sister, Delores Kirby.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Bearden of Calhoun, GA; children, Tina and Charles Thigpen of Stockbridge, GA, Tonya and Christopher Short of Dalton, GA, Rodney and Tiffany Bearden of Ballground, GA, Heather and Brandon Turner of Calhoun, GA; 11 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Ronnie Bearden of Dawsonville, GA, Janell Reeves of Dawsonville, GA, Judy and David Dospoey of Cumming, GA, Tony Bearden of Dawsonville, GA, Ricky Bearden of Calhoun, GA, Steve Bearden of Dawsonville, GA. and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives survive.

Helen Hardin Lomax, 70, of Dawsonville passed away Thursday January 23, 2020 at her residence following a sudden illness.
Born November 14, 1949 in Gastonia, NC to the late Emory R. and Cora Hardin, she had lived in Dawson County most of her life. Helen retired from Home Depot after which she worked as a healthcare provider. She was a talented artist who loved painting and wood burning. A member of New Life Church of God, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Joan Hardin Little; and brothers, Wesley Hardin and Bobby Hardin.
Surviving are her daughter and son in law, Telitha Lomax and Phillip Randall, Dawsonville; grandson, Corbin James Randall; sisters and brothers in law, Susan and Wayne Shires, Forest City, NC, Janice and Don Fleming, Dawsonville; brothers and sisters in law, Robert and Kathy Hardin, Dawsonville, Danny and Gail Hardin, Gainesville, Doug and Vinnie Hardin, Kentucky; and a number of other relatives.

Ronald Rogers, 69, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday January 29, 2020 at Northside Forsyth Hospital following a period of declining health.
Ronald was born June 2, 1950 to the late Charlie and Mary Rogers. He had been a resident of Dawsonville for three years, having moved from Forsyth County. Born and raised in Tennessee, he began a career in the pest control industry which brought him to Georgia. He had a great love for the outdoors, coon hunting and horses. Ronald was also preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Allen and brother, Donald Rogers.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Jane Rogers; daughters and sons in law, Ronda and Josh Watson, Cindy and Michael McCarron; sons and daughters in law, Chad and Renee Rogers, Josh and Bailey Rogers, all of Dawsonville; son in law, Brad Allen of Dahlonega; brother, Jimmy Rogers of Kingston, TN; 11 grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Saturday February 1, 2020 at 3 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Mark Biddy will officiate. Interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of service on Saturday.
