Billie B. Bond, 91, of Dawsonville passed away Friday December 14, 2018.
Born March 24, 1927 in Washington, Indiana to the late Arthur and Olive Davidson, she had lived in Dawsonville for the past year having moved from Lake Alfred, Florida. Mrs. Bond retired from State Farm following 29 years of service. A member of Lake Alfred Presbyterian Church, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Marion Bond; great grandson, Christian Pach; and a sister, Jane Hibbens.
Surviving are her daughter and son in law, Cindy and Jack Jones, Dawsonville; three grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Tuesday December 18, 2018 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home.

Mary Alice Kapise, age 70 of Cleveland, passed away Friday, November 30, 2018. Mrs. Kapise was born in Thomaston, Georgia to the late Charlie Will and Virginia Lynch Franklin. She resided in Macon, Georgia as well as Lizella, Georgia before moving to White County in 1986. Mrs. Kapise was of the Methodist faith and loved doing her crafts such as sewing and painting.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her step son Danny Kapise.
Mrs. Kapise is survived by her husband Thomas Kapise Sr. of Cleveland; her daughter Jennifer Tomlin of Cleveland; step son Barry Kapise of Manchester, Tennessee, step daughter Tammy Pettinato of LaVerne, Tennessee, and Tommy Kapise Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in law Frances (Bruce) Hawkins of Pontotoc, Texas and brother and sister-in law Billy (Ann) Franklin of Thomaston, Georgia; her granddaughters Lexi and Aly Tomlin; as well as 15 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M Saturday, December 8, 2018 at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Elrod officiating.
Flowers will be accepted or a donation may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950.

Mary Judith Miller, 60, of Dawsonville, GA passed away Wednesday December 4, 2019 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Mary was born February 8, 1959 in Biloxi, Mississippi, she lived a number of years in Ohio and had recently moved to Dawsonville from McDonough, GA. A loving wife and a nurturing mother, she loved life and her gentleness and good sense of humor was evident. She possessed a great passion for music and loved to sing in the choirs of the churches she attended. She loved her God, her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was actively involved at the Howland United Methodist Church in Warren, Ohio. Mary was preceded in death by her father, James Howard Marshall and her sister, Nancy Ann Marshall.
Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Daro Gene Miller, Dawsonville; son and daughter in law, Brian James and Jordan Grantham Miller, Cumming, GA; grandsons, Chandler Grantham Miller and Raiden Marshall Miller; mother, Shirley Mae Marshall, Vienna, Ohio; sisters, Barbara Edwards, Fowler, Ohio, Sally Thompson, Keymar, Maryland, Laura Lo Verme, Cortland, Ohio, Bonnie Isaac, Pulaski, Pennsylvania; father in law, Richard H. Miller, Vienna, Ohio. She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday December 7, 2019 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home.
Another memorial service will be held in Howland, Ohio at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Arthritis Foundation.

Mary Ann Mavis: Obituary

On Saturday September 14, 2019, at the age of 89, Mary Ann Mavis passed away at North Georgia Assisted Living.
Mary Ann was a loving wife and mother. She had a lovely life traveling while her husband served in the military. She wrote a children’s book about a Tooth Smile. She also sewed dresses made from rare beads she collected while traveling overseas. In 1996 she and her husband signed on with Habitat for Humanity traveling from state to state to build houses for the less fortunate. Mary Ann was preceded in death by a son, Bruce David Mavis.
She is survived by Lt. Col. Arthur L. Mavis, Jr.; a daughter, Lisa M. Mavis; a son, Neil James Mavis; grandchildren, Elaine Goodman, Stetson, Sproul, Alston Brown; and great grandchildren, Everett Mavis, Amanda Mavis, Asher Mavis, Zachary Baldwin, Allison Baldwin, and Cole Goodman.

Tonya Jo Burt, 44, of Dawsonville, GA passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Northside Hospital Forsyth, Cumming, GA after an extended illness. She loved the outdoors and loved to camp and fish in the mountains.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Ortego; grandparents, Rob and Sally Burt, Web and Lillie Cain.
She is survived by her parents, Michael and Ellen Burt of Dawsonville, GA, Gail and Lee Emmett of Crossville, TN; son, Tyler Burt of Crossville, TN; two grandchildren; brother, Joshua Burt of Dawsonville, GA; sister, Jeannie Burt of Dawsonville, GA; step brother, Berry Stribling of Perry, GA; step sister, Nicole Austin of Perry, GA; and numerous other relatives survive.
The family will hold a private memorial service.

William Asbury “Bill” Styles
William “Bill” Asbury Styles, 87, of Dawsonville, GA passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Seasons Hospice IPU, Cumming, GA. He was born to the late James Otis and Cleo Styles. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as a mechanic on the B-29 Bomber. He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Dahlonega, GA. Bill was a Over the Road Trucker hauling cars for Ford Motor Company for over 40 years before retiring.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Styles; brothers, James Styles and Nathan Styles.
He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Ken and Ann Styles of Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren, Michael Boyd, Hannah Styles, Robert Styles, Emily Styles; and numerous other relatives.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home, Dawsonville, GA, with the Rev. Phil DeMore and Rev. C. R. Hill will officiate. Interment will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 11:30 am at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA with Military Honors.

Betty Fay Cox Tatum
Betty Fay Cox Tatum, 84, of Dawsonville passed away Monday March 18, 2019 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Born February 13, 1935 in Cherokee County to the late Toy and Maude Cox, she lived a number of years in the Hopewell Community near Alpharetta before moving to Dawson County in 1986. During her high school years she was an outstanding basketball player. A homemaker for the past 60 years, she was formerly employed as a bookkeeper for Roswell Bank after which, along with her husband, they owned and operated a cattle and poultry farm. Betty was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed playing in church. Mrs. Tatum also enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, cooking, canning, and camping. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church and was also preceded in death by brothers, Holland Cox, Olin Cox, her twin brother, Billy Cox, and a great granddaughter, Abbey Kilgore.
Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Charlie Tatum, Dawsonville; children, Vickie and Don Mulkey, Flowery Branch, Bruce and Melissa Tatum, Dawsonville, Robin and Tim Biddy, Dawsonville, Julie Adams, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Alison and Horace Kilgore, Philip Mulkey, Alex and Katy Tatum, Jessica and Thomas Waite, Nicholas and Jessi Biddy, Rachel and C.J. Sams, Josie Adams; fourteen great grandchildren; sister, Monteree Richards, Sugar Hill; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday March 22, 2019 at 2 o’clock at Concord Baptist Church. Dr. Scott Gilbert, Rev. Tim Biddy, and Rev. Don Mulkey will officiate. Interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 3:30 until 8 at the funeral home.

Karen Elaine Smith, 61, of Dawsonville, GA passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. She was born to the late Jack Alfred and Mary Jane Kilgore. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, that loved to spend time with her grandchildren and family.
Karen is preceded in death by her brother, Marshall Kilgore and sister, Deborah Chastian.
She is survived by her husband, Robert H. Smith of Dawsonville, GA; children, Corey and Chelsea Harper of Dawsonville, GA, Josh Harper of Dawsonville, GA; grandchildren, Gracey, Jesse, Emma, and Abigale; brother, Casey and Kim Kilgore of Waleska, GA; sister, Susan and Walker Shealy of Marble Hill, GA; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 16. 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Owens officiating. Interment will follow the funeral at Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

Lillie Mae “Mickie” Wilkins, 79, of Dawsonville passed away Friday January 18, 2019 at Foothills Retirement Home in Dahlonega.
Born January 17, 1940 in Cumming, Miss Wilkins had been a resident of Dawson County for most of her life. She worked as a bus driver with the Dawson County School System for a number of years. An active member of Liberty Baptist Church she had a great love for her church family. Miss Wilkins was known for her service to others through her time, talents and gifts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlton and Dovie Pruitt; husbands, Sergeant First Class Billy Charles, Rev. Earl E. Marshall, J.M. Wilkins; sister, Evelyn Pruitt; brother, Paul Pruitt.
Surviving are her daughters and sons in law, Billie Jo “BJ” and Jim O’Connor of Columbia, SC, Rebecca “Susie” and John Carr of Cumming; sons, Dan Charles of New Orleans, Eddie Marshall of Cumming; step-children, Trisha and Phil Harris of Cumming, Scott Marshall; brothers, Lamar Pruitt of Cumming, Leon Pruitt of Elberton; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Monday January 21, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jerry Frazier, Rev. Dennis Bottoms and Rev. Stephen Davis will officiate. Interment services will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday January 20 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Monday from 12 noon until the hour of service.

Kenneth Chambers, 50, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday January 6, 2019 at Northside Hospital Forsyth following a period of declining health.
Born March 16, 1968, Kenneth was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. A loving father, son, brother and grandfather, he was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Chambers.
Surviving are his children, Anna Berkley of Dawsonville, Amanda and Kevin Roberts of Woodstock, Jay and Lindsey Chambers of Florida; grandsons, William and Corey Roberts; father, Curtis Chambers of Dawsonville; brothers and sisters in law, Wesley and Rosalind Chambers, Jeff and Shelley Chambers, Greg Chambers, all of Dawsonville; sister and brother in law, Sheila and Charles Grizzle of Dahlonega; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday January 10, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tommy Ross will officiate.
