Leah Smith, 55, of Dahlonega passed away Thursday December 13, 2018.
Leah was born July 18, 1963. A native of Doraville, she lived in Dahlonega for the past two years having moved from Brookhaven. She was employed at Publix in Forsyth County and was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Smith; stepfather, Tommy King; and a sister, Erica King.
Surviving are her mother, Evelyn King, Dahlonega; sister, Lynn Smith, Dawsonville; brother, Stephen Johnson, currently serving in the military; and a number of other relatives.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday December 22, 2018 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home.

Madge E. Hylton, 79, of Cumming passed away Friday December 7, 2018 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Born February 7, 1939, Mrs. Hylton lived most of her life in Jamaica and had been a resident of Forsyth County for the past three years. She was a member of The Seventh-day Adventist Church. A loving mother and grandmother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlton Hylton and son, William Hunter.
Surviving are her daughters and son in law, Claudette Taylor of Jamaica, Samantha and Ron Bowers of Cumming; sons and daughter in law, Dave Cherrington of New York, Danny and Kerri Ann Hylton of Jamaica, Dale Hylton of Jamaica; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Memorial services will be held in Jamaica at a later date.

Allen Andrew “Andy” Daniel, a resident of Dawsonville, Georgia, went to be with his heavenly Father on December 5, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Andrew was born on April 20, 1953 in Thomaston, Georgia. He was the fourth son of the late Louis Daniel and Ruby Nixon Daniel. Mr. Daniel was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Upson County. He was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and became the co-owner of Superior Indoor Comfort in Alpharetta, GA. Andy is known for being a loving, hardworking and generous man. He was a deacon of Union Primitive Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Nixon Daniel and Louis Cornelious Daniel; brothers, James Thomas “Tommy” Daniel, Cary Jerome Daniel; Benjamin Louis “Ben” Daniel; and his granddaughter, Taylor Ann Daniel.
Surviving are his wife, Vickie Diane Daniel, Dawsonville; sons and daughters in law, Stephen Charles and Sara Daniel, Ball Ground, Louis Andrew and Jennifer Daniel, Cumming, Clifford Allen and Melanie Daniel, Canton, Joseph Matthew and Julia Daniel, Dawsonville, and Erin Starr, Cumming; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday December 8, 2018 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Marty Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Friday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.

Kimberly Jaye Moore, 20, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday December 4, 2018.
Surviving are her mother, Jan Moore, Dawsonville; sister, Anita Moore, Dawsonville; brother, Jay Moore, Dawsonville; and sister, Marti Moore Fisher, Cleveland.
Funeral services will be held Thursday December 6, 2018 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Allen Barrett and Rev. Jeremy Barrett will officiate. Interment will follow in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

Donald Matheson, 70, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday November 13, 2018 at Northside Forsyth Hospital following a short illness.
Donald was born January 14, 1948 to the late Bob and Regina Matheson. A native of Helen, Georgia, he lived most of his life in Dawson County. For many years he traveled the country as a pharmaceutical salesman in the poultry industry. After his retirement and for the past ten years he enjoyed selling boiled peanuts at the Tractor Supply in Dawsonville. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed spending time at his place on the river in Helen. His grandkids were his life and he enjoyed every minute he got to spend with them. An active member of Liberty Baptist Church, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Connie Clark, and a brother, Buck Matheson.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Judy Matheson, Dawsonville; sons and daughter in law, Chuck and Angel Matheson, Dawsonville, Cotton Matheson, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Blake Matheson, Cody Matheson, Kate Williamson, Alexis Matheson; sister in law, Joan Matheson, Gainesville; brothers in law and sisters in law, Jerry and Lynn Townley, Dawsonville, Jackie and Lynn Townley, Dawsonville; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday November 16, 2018 at 11 o’clock at Liberty Baptist Church. Rev. Dennis Bottoms, Rev. Ruel Martin, and Rev. Stephen Davis will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Judith P. “Judy” Hopkins, 74, of Dahlonega passed away Thursday October 18, 2018 at her home following a period of declining health.
Born April 19, 1944 to the late Raymond Lambert and Betty Jane Royalty, she had been a resident of Dahlonega for 33 years having moved from Danville, Illinois. Judy was a psychiatric registered nurse her entire career and worked for the State of Georgia until her retirement. She enjoyed buying fabric, crafts, reading, and most of all her time with family and friends.
Surviving are her husband of 33 years, Roger Brown of Dawsonville; children, Mike Dougherty of Danville, Illinois, Tina Indrunas of Clearwater, Florida, Mindy Whited of Dawsonville, Anna Berkley of Dawsonville; brother, Tony Bonacorsi of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; 8 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Sunday October 21, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. James Lemley will officiate.

Mary Elizabeth Thomason Seitz, 86, of Dahlonega passed away Wednesday October 10, 2018 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Born and raised in Clermont, Ga., Mary lived most of her life in Forsyth County until moving to Dahlonega in 2005. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Cumming. A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was preceded in death by her husband, L.D. Seitz; parents, Charley and Idell Thomason; brothers, Harold Thomason, Charles Thomason; sisters, Eris Thomason, Martha Ann Wylie.
Surviving are her sons and daughter in law, Tommy Seitz, Dahlonega, Robby and Michelle Seitz, Cumming; daughters and sons in law, Becky and Roger Townley, Cumming, Linda and Norris Hughes, Dawsonville, Vanessa and Lamar Day, Dawsonville; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Sunday October 14, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Brody Hughes, Rev. Johnathan Seitz, Rev. Austin Seitz and Rev. Roger Townley will officiate. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery in Dahlonega.

Minnie Lee Chumley Wigington, 95, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday October 2, 2018 at Grandview Health Care Center following a period of declining health.
Born December 25, 1922 to the late John Henry and Martha Chumley, she had been a resident of Dawsonville for most of her life. Minnie was a member of Amicalola Baptist Church and for many years was known as “The Avon Lady” in the area. She was a well known and very talented seamstress who specialized in alterations and helped many local families. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she left this life with spirit. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Wigington, grand-daughter, Valerie B. Burgess and a number of siblings.

Born May 27, 1934 to the late Farland Jacob and Thelma Alice Padgett, Joyce lived a number of years in Lawrenceville and Marietta before returning to Dawson County 35 years ago. A charter member of Trinity Baptist Church, Joyce worked as a homemaker throughout her life and was extremely devoted to her family. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Roger Padgett.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Hub Parks, Dawsonville; sons and daughters in law, Dennis K. Parks, Jacksonville, FL, Lonnie C. and Kathy Parks, White, GA, Clay and Libby Parks, Somerset, KY; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren; sisters and brother in law, Shirley and Woodrow Wilson, Dawsonville, Frances and Les Pethrick, Marietta; brothers and sisters in law, Max and Daisy Padgett, Dawsonville, Ray and Diane Padgett, Dawsonville; and a number of other relatives.

Mikel Kollar, 31, of Newnan, formerly of Dawsonville, passed away Friday August 9, 2019.
Born January 13, 1988, he had lived in Coweta County for the past 4 years. Mikel owned and operated Let’s Get Movin’ moving company. He was an accomplished guitarist who enjoyed music, art, loved the outdoors, gardening, fishing, cooking and travel. He was a member of McKee’s Chapel United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his grandmother, Alice Samples and grandfather, Louis Kollar.
Surviving are his wife, Kayla Kollar, Newnan; children, Mason Kollar, Dawsonville, Zoey Kollar, Newnan; parents, Larry and Margaret Kollar, Dawsonville; sister and brother in law, Julia and Josh Morang, Dawsonville; grandmother, Sylvia Scoble, Largo, FL; grandfather, Ralph Samples, Dawsonville; father in law and mother in law, Rickey and Pam Payton, Newnan; brothers in law, Corey Payton, Douglasville, Micah Payton, Atlanta; and a number of other relatives.

Sherry Jeanette Rucker, 77 of Dawsonville, GA passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Seasons Hospice, Cumming, GA after an extended illness. She was born to the late Ethan and Irene Glover. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whom loved to watch television. She retired after 20 years as the Manager of Wendy’s restaurant in Cumming, GA.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Rucker; brothers and sister in law, Truiett and Betty Glover, Ricky Glover; brother in law, Mike Camp.
She is survived by his children, Lanny and Rhonda Rucker of Dawsonville, GA, Ronnie and Tianna Rucker of Dawsonville, GA; grandchildren, Aleisha, Jennifer, William and Richard; brothers, Johnny and Judy Glover, Kenneth and Jane Glover, Raburn Glover; sister, Linda Camp; and numerous other relatives survive.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Owens officiating. Interment will follow the funeral at 1:30 p.m. at Green Lawn Cemetery, Roswell, GA.
