Wind chill advisory remains in effect through Friday


PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – The National Weather Service issued the latest urgent winter weather message at 12:10 p.m. today.

A wind chill advisory remains in effect fro 7 p.m. today until 10 a.m. Friday in the following counties, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Chattooga, Gordon and Pickens.

* WHAT — Very cold wind chills expected. Expect wind chills to range from near zero to 10 below zero.

* WHERE –Portions of north Georgia.

* WHEN –7 p.m. this evening to 10 a.m. EST Friday.

* Additional details: The cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.

Precautionary, Preparedness Actions:

A wind chill advisory means that cold air and the wind will combine to create low wind chills. Frost bite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken. Dress in warm layers and wear a hat and gloves. Make sure that pets have a warm place to shelter.
