Mall report of employee testing positive for COVID-19 not accurate

DAWSON COUNTY, Ga. — Dawson County Public Safety Director Danny Thompson said today (March 16) the announcement by North Georgia Premium Outlets that a part-time employee has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) is not correct.

North Georgia Premium Outlets posted on its website that , “the employee, who was employed at an undisclosed tenant of the outlet mall, has tested positive for coronavirus, but has not been on site at the mall since March 4. ”

But Thompson said “We are in daily contact with the Department of Public Health and CDC and there are no confirmed cases of corona virus in Dawson County. Our information does not coincide with their report.”

He said the employee in question had returned from a trip to Las Vegas before returning to work and has not been at work since Mar. 4.

DAWSON COUNTY, Ga. – North Georgia Premium Outlets in Dawson County reports on its website that a part-time employee has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

The report states, “We were notified that a part-time employee of a tenant at our property tested positive for Covid-19. That employee was last on property on March 4. The “tenant” closed for deep cleaning and has reopened.”

The report did not disclose the name of the employee, where the employee resides or the “tenant.” Georgia Department of Public Health’s daily coronavirus update reports that no confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Dawson County as of 11:43 p.m. Sunday.
