Tigers Come Up Short Against GAC in Region Battle
The Dawson County Tigers went toe-to-toe with Greater Atlanta Christian on Friday night, but a late score lifted the Spartans to a 21–14 win in a Region 6-3A matchup.
Dawson struck first behind senior running back Cody McBrayer, who carried the load all evening. McBrayer finished with 193 rushing yards and both of Dawson’s touchdowns, giving the Tigers a 14–7 halftime lead.
The third quarter turned into a defensive battle, with neither team able to break through. But in the final period, GAC’s ground game took control. The Spartans punched in two rushing touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with just over a minute to play.
Dawson had one last chance, but GAC’s defense intercepted a pass on the first play of the Tigers’ final drive, sealing the outcome.
The Spartans relied heavily on the run, piling up 274 rushing yards. Pierce Wilson led the way with 223 all-purpose yards and a touchdown, while Michael Miller added 101 yards on the ground and a score.
The loss dropped Dawson County to 1–4 on the season, while GAC improved to 5–1 and extended its winning streak to five games.
Next up, Dawson County will travel to Johnson, while Greater Atlanta Christian returns home to face North Hall.
