Commissioners Approve Impact Fee Study

DAWSON COUNTY, Ga.- The Dawson County Commissioners approved a new impact fee study to take place due to the current moratorium on residential rezoning requests.
The commissioners also approved a land survey on the donated land the county received at the last board meeting. They also bid farewell to Chief Danny Thompson.
There has not been an impact fee study done since 2018. The study is part of the moratorium that is in effect until Nov. 3 for residential rezoning requests that had not already been submitted prior to the hearing. Ross Associates will be the firm that is used for the process. They were also the company that did the study last time for the county.
Anne Styles donated land to the county to be turned into a park. The county approved the donation at the previous board meeting on Aug. 4.

Now the county has to perform a Land survey and phase 1 environmental assessment on the land. The budget for the survey and assessment is $16,500 and it will come out of the general fund balance.
Lastly, the County Manager and Board of Commissioners acknowledged the leaving of the Emergency Management Director and Fire Chief Danny Thompson. Thompson is leaving Dawson County to take another position in the state.
