Rep. Doug Collins greets supporter on bus tour stop in Dawsonville Friday.

DAWSONVILLE, Ga. – Congressman Doug Collins (R-Ga.) brought his campaign for the U.S. Senate to the steps of Dawsonville Gun and Pawn Friday. It was the fourth stop of the day on a long 17-day, 60 city bus tour that spanned 4,000 miles. But if the former preacher was growing tired, it didn’t show.

Speaking to a crowd of approximately 100 Dawson County conservatives, he was charged with the same energy and fiery rhetoric with which he has defended President Donald Trump and the president’s appointees to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Gary Black, who introduced Collins Friday, blasted Sen. Kelly Loeffler(R-Ga) following a report that surfaced in the Daily Beast on Thursday that members of her team offered members of the Trump campaign team $50 million to get Collins out of the race.

The source of the report was Matt Gaetz (R-FL), a Collins supporter. It was confirmed by other sources who said the money had more to do with supporting other Senate candidates than with supporting the president.

“They took $50 million to try and tarnish the name of a good man,” said Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Gary Black, who introduced Collins. “One of the things money can buy is confusion. Money can buy falsehoods. Money can’t buy courage. Money can’t buy integrity. That’s what our next United States Senator is all about.”

Collins carried the ball from there, lashing out at Loeffler, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Senate minority leader Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Cal) and other liberals. He also encouraged conservatives to “speak out” and “stand up” for their values.

The crowd erupted into applause when he asked, “How many of you think it’s time for Nancy Pelosi to not be in Congress anymore, but to go back home to California? I’m tired of California trying to run Georgia and the rest of the country by liberal values.”

The line that drew laughter was his reference to Schiff as “my lips are moving so I must be lying Schiff.” Conservatives believe Schiff lied throughout the impeachment hearing, especially about having direct evidence that President Trump colluded with Russia.

Collins surprised many in the crowd when he said, “I’ll tell you how this is going to play out. It’s not going to be like Donald Trump and David Perdue. That will be resolved next Tuesday night. This one is going to be a little different. There will be a clearing of the air. There are 20 candidates and 18 of them are going to be gone. Two will be left standing. There is going to be a runoff and the two left standing are going to be myself and Rafael Warnock.”
