ATLANTA, Ga. – Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) joined President Donald J. Trump, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Robert Redfield, Health and Human Services Secretary (HHS) Alex Azar and a number of other officials at the CDC in Atlanta last week for a tour and a briefing on the steps being taken to combat coronavirus.

“President Trump, Vice President Pence, and our public health officials are taking bold action to prevent the spread of coronavirus and protect the health and safety of all Americans,” said Collins. “After our briefing today, I can say with more confidence than ever before that the U.S. has the very best public health officials, and they’re doing everything they can to fight coronavirus. I appreciate President Trump and Secretary Azar taking the time to visit Atlanta today, and I’m thankful to Dr. Redfield for providing us with an update. Because of their tireless leadership, our government is more prepared to combat this public health crisis.”

Collins voted to pass out of the House the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act (H.R. 6074), which provides $8 billion in emergency funding to combat the coronavirus. President Trump signed this bill into law.
