Dawson Co. uses big 4th quarter to defeat Lumpkin Co. 55-47

The Dawson Co. Tigers (21-2, 10-0 Region 7-3A) won a defensive battle on their senior night against Lumpkin Co. (8-16, 4-8 Region 7-3A) 55-47. They scored 22 points in the 4th quarter, including a 7-0 run late in the game, to win the game.
Campbell Reed was the high scorer for the game on his senior night with 27 points, including seven 3-pointers. Mason Barnes also scored 16 points for the Tigers.

Brian Cunane led the way for the Indians with 14 points and 7 rebounds, while Jacob Cumbie had 11 points and 5 rebounds.
The first quarter started out rough, with neither team scoring until three minutes into the game. The Tigers then hit three 3-pointers to get the offense going. The Indians scored the last four points of the period to cut the Tiger lead to 11-10.
The second quarter was just as low-scoring and competitive as the first. Lumpkin Co. used a late 7-0 run to trail 22-21 at halftime.

The Tigers scored twice early in the second half, but couldn’t score again until the end of the period. After the Indians took the lead, Dawson Co. scored the final six points of the quarter to take a 33-28 lead into the final period.
The offense started clicking for both teams in the final quarter. The Tigers hit four 3-pointers to score 22 points and win 55-47.
The Tigers’ next game is Tuesday at Cherokee Bluff at 7:30 P.M.
The Indians’ next game is Tuesday as they host North Hall at 7:30 P.M.
