Firefighter graduates from Ga. Fire Academy program

DAWSONVILLE, Ga. — Dawson County Fire & Emergency Services is pleased to announce Firefighter Seth Taylor, graduated today from the Georgia Fire Academy basic Firefighter (FF) program. He has successfully completed his National Professional Qualifications for Firefighter 1. The program is eight weeks and was held at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC), located in Forsyth, GA.

During the eight weeks at GPSTC, FF Taylor covered topics such as, search/rescue, ventilation, firefighting tactics, forcible entry and water supply. This training is both physically and mentally draining for a recruit.

“The training received at the academy, is the foundation for many more years of training,” Chief Danny Thompson stated. “FF Taylor will be assigned to shift starting this weekend. We are very pleased to have FF Taylor join our department, he will bring needed help to his shift,”  FF Taylor had his family in attendance at his graduation to enjoy this day.
