PRESS RELEASE
DAWSONVILLE, GEORGIA — The Rotary Club of Dawson County is hosting its fifth annual Rotary Day at Rotary Island on Saturday, June 1st from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to celebrate the beginning of summer with a free event for the whole community.
Local families invited to come out and enjoy hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy and snow cones, as well as other refreshments. Activities will include a petting zoo, dunk tank, and bouncy house. Don’t forget bathing suits for the kids as Rotary Day marks the official season opening of Rotary Island. Admission to Rotary Island at Rock Creek Park in Dawsonville is always free, and on Rotary Day, all of the activities including the games, lunch, snacks and drinks are also free.
“Think of it as a down-home, good old-fashioned party like the ones that used to be held in small towns across America,” said Scott Yochum, who organized the event. “It’s a time for kids to have fun and cool off.”
Rotary Island at Rock Creek Park on Martin Road is a three-dimensional, interactive splash pad featuring five above-ground water sprayers and six ground-level sprinklers.
“This is our way of saying thank you to the community for all the support our Rotary Club receives throughout the year,” Yochum said.
A live D.J. will be playing tracks that’ll have everyone dancing, singing and enjoying the afternoon at the park.
The event is cosponsored by Northeast Georgia Health System-Medical Plaza 400.
