GAINESVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) said charges will be filed against Lonnie Anderson, 33, of Dawsonville, the driver of a Ford Mustang that was involved in a fatal collision with a Hall County school bus Thursday.

According to the GSP incident report, Anderson’s car hydroplaned on a rain-soaked Thompson Bridge Road and ran head-on into the bus, killing his daughter, 13-year-old Summer Anderson and injuring his son Zachary Anderson, age 12.

The driver was seriously injured and transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Zachary Anderson was transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in serious condition.

GSP Sgt. Auston Allen, who investigated the crash, said Lonnie Anderson will be charged with failure to maintain lane and slick tires. He also could face a charge of second-degree homicide.

There were no serious injuries to the 19 students on the bus, but they were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for evaluation.

Summer Anderson was a student in Dawson County Middle School. Zachary Anderson is a student at Kilough Elementary.
