DAWSONVILLE, Ga. — Dawson County has become the latest victim of a ransomware attack.

County officials have confirmed that some of the county’s computer systems have been compromised. At this time, no personal data appears to have been compromised.

This is the same kind of attack that struck the City of Atlanta and cost the city millions of dollars to recover. Hackers demanded $50,000 in that attack. So far, no ransom has been asked.

At this point, citizens of Dawson County have not experienced any disruption in service but the attack has maed it more difficult for county employees to do their jobs.
