Wind chill advisory remains in effect Jan. 2


PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued the following urgent winter weather message. A wind chill advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2 for the following counties, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Chattooga, Gordon, Pickens, Floyd, Bartow, Cherokee, Forsyth, Polk, Paulding, Cobb, Haralson, Carroll and Douglas.

* WHAT…Very cold wind chills expected. The cold wind chills can  cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.  Expect wind chills to range from 5 above zero to 5 below zero.

* WHERE…Portions of north Georgia, generally along and north of  a line from Carrollton to Cumming to Cleveland.

* WHEN…Until 10 AM EST this morning. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Temperatures this morning will range from  the single digits in the northeast mountains and along the  higher elevations in northwest Georgia…to 10 to 15 elsewhere.  Winds will be north from 5 to 10 mph.
