Four Arrested After Altercation at Funeral Service

CLEVELAND, Ga. – An altercation outside a funeral service in Cleveland on May 24 led to the arrest of four White County men who are charged with aggravated assault, terrorist threats, possession of weapons during the commission of a crime and disorderly conduct.

Those arrested include Stephen Tyler Allen, 19, Jonathan Wesley Carroll, 21, Devin Gage Wilder, 18 and Thomas Dixon Wilder 21.

According to the police report, Thomas Wilder was riding his motorcycle up and down the road outside the funeral service, creating a disturbance when one of the men attending the funeral told him to stop while the service was in progress. Wilder said he became angry and began shouting obscenities. He then drove away and asked his friends to come back with him and “take care of business.”

Armed with a knife, metal pipes and a wood splitter, the men accompanied Wilder. When White County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at 928 Bean Creek Road, they witnessed the suspects throwing pole-like objects into the woods.

The men were ordered to get on the ground, their weapons were retrieved and the men were eventually handcuffed and taken to the White County Detention Center. No injuries were reported.
