Dawson County Splits Non-Region Games with Habersham County

DAWSONVILLE, Ga. — The Dawson County boys turned in their most impressive win of the season Monday, beating visiting Habersham County 66 to 39 in a non-region game. The win lifts the Tigers record to 7-5 heading into the Commerce Christmas Tournament next week.

The Lady Tigers held a 10-point lead when the fourth quarter started, but they couldn’t hold off the hard-charging Lady Raiders in a 51 to 43 loss. Led by Lainey Gosnell, who finished with a game-high 18 points, Habersham County outscored Dawson County 24-6 in the final eight minutes to clinch the win.

Kaylee Sticker led Dawson County with 12 points, followed by Abi Chatham with 10.

In the boys game, Coach Chad Pittman’s Tigers connected on nine three-pointers. Guard Jeremiah Crumley drained three from long range in the first quarter to help Dawson County race to a 21-8 lead.

Crumley, the game’s leading scorer with 16 points, added another 3-pointer in the second period then sank a pair of free throws and layup to help the Tigers open up a 35-19 halftime lead.

With Crumley, Kane Pelfrey, Cullen Reed and Joseph Cronin adding 3-pointers in the third quarter, the Tigers blew open a 53-24 lead and Pittman began to substitute freely the rest of the way.

Reed finished with 13 points, followed by Cronin with 11. Cooper Rowland led Habersham County with 10 points.
