Leon Sheriff, 73, of Dawsonville passed away Monday October 31, 2016 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.

Born November 7, 1942 to the late Clifton and Millie Sheriff, he had been a resident of Dawsonville all of his life. A loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, Leon was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He had worked in the construction industry for most of his life and was a co-founder of Shoal Creek Building Supply. He was an avid fisherman and was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Sheriff.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Tolbert Sheriff, Dawsonville; sons and daughters in law, Stevie and Donna Sheriff, Dawsonville, Greg and Melissa Sheriff, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Cody, Amber, and Amanda Sheriff, all of Dawsonville; brother and sister in law, David “Chubby” and Gail Sheriff, Dawsonville; sisters and brothers in law, Patsy and Ronald Caldwell, Dahlonega, Sue and Randy Grant, Dawsonville, a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday November 2, 2016 at 11 o’clock at Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. Jason Hamby will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.
