Sheriff Candidate Frank Sosebee

Fetch Your News will attempt to present a profile of each candidate running for public office in Dawson County in order to provide voters with the information they need to make an informed choice. Each of the candidates will be contacted and offered a chance to respond prior to the May 24 election.
DAWSONVILLE, Ga. — Frank Sosebee says if he’s elected as Dawson County Sheriff, his No. 1 priority will be to protect the children.

“Right now not all our schools are protected,” he said. “One of the first things I will do is to put a school resource officer (SRO) in every school.”

Sosebee is a graduate of Columbus State University Command College and will soon earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Reinhardt College. He has 32 years of law enforcement experience, including 20 years of supervisory and budgeting experience. He currently oversees 102 employees and nine divisions for the Georgia Department of Corrections in Hall County.

“I’m the training coordinator for all departments,” he said. “I have a very well-rounded experience. I have more than 3,000 training hours and, this year, I have focused on domestic terrorism.”

Dawson County expects tremendous growth in the next 5-10 years and with growth comes crime.

To meet that challenge, Sosebee said that increasing the street patrol will be another top priority. “We have to be more visible, especially along the 400 corridor,” he said. “If we need to add staff, I will sit down and discuss it with commissioners, but I believe the department is top heavy now and we can meet manpower needs by reorganizing the entire department at no added cost to taxpayers.”

Sosebee said he has already achieved one goal. “I’ve been working with Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch to form a drug intervention unit so both counties can work together to stop drugs.”
