Dawson County Deputies Pursue Suspected Stolen Vehicle; Driver Arrested After Crash

DAWSON COUNTY, Ga. — A traffic stop on GA 400 Tuesday morning, Sept. 15, led to a multi-county pursuit and the arrest of an Atlanta man, according to the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy with the Dawson County Crime Suppression Unit initiated a traffic stop on GA 400 northbound. The driver, identified as Hassan Bey of Atlanta, fled from the traffic stop, prompting a pursuit.

During the pursuit, deputies determined the vehicle had been reported stolen.

The pursuit continued north into Lumpkin County before turning south through Dawson County. The Georgia State Patrol then took the lead in the pursuit as it continued into Forsyth County.

The pursuit ended when Bey crashed into a dump truck.

Bey was taken into custody without incident following the crash and transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was later booked into the Dawson County Detention Center, where he remained in custody, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office thanked the Georgia State Patrol for its assistance during the pursuit.
