Tyler Allen Williams, 23, of Dawsonville, GA passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at WellStar Kennestone Hospital, Marietta, GA. He was a life long resident of Dawson County, GA, who was known as the class clown and a big jokester.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Frank Orr and Douglas Williams, Sr.

He is survived by his daughter, Lakelyn Grissett of Grayson, GA; mother, Angie Duff of Dawsonville, GA; father and step mother, Doug and Amy Williams of Lula, GA; brothers, Kirk, Jesse, and Jaxson; sisters, Amber, Bailey, Camryn and Drew; grand parents, Susan and Clinton Elkins of Dawsonville, GA and Rose Williams and Greg Fidler of Gillsville, GA; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 24,. 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel, Dawsonville, GA.

Frances E. Griffeth, 92, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday June 13, 2018 following a period of declining health.

Born May 24, 1926 in Jackson County to the late Boyd and Lillie Waddell, she had lived in Dawson County since 2002 having moved from Athens. Mrs. Griffeth was a homemaker who possessed a deep devotion to her family. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Griffeth was also preceded in death by her husband, A. B. Griffeth; son, Jimmy Baxter; and six sisters and brothers.

Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Dyer, Dawsonville; son and daughter in law, Dennis and Lisa Griffeth, Jefferson; grandchildren, Chris and Virginia Baxter, Keena and Russell Burt, Michael Griffeth, Brad Griffeth, Andrew Leard, Emily Griffeth; and great grandchildren, Kaila Burt, Hunter Burt, Avery Leard.

Funeral services will be held Thursday June 14, 2018 at 7 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Russell Burt will officiate.

Harris Linton Moore, 74, of Cumming, GA passed away after a brief illness at Northside Hospital Forsyth on Saturday, May 26, 2018. He was born to the late Linton C. and Ora Moore. He was a life long resident of this area and was a member at Dawsonville Baptist Church, Dawsonville, GA. He loved to work and was a avid gardener. Was known for having a service heart to anyone he met.

He is survived by his children, Carol and Bob Michaelson of Dawsonville, GA, Chris and Lorann Moore of Dawsonville, GA, Daryl and Kim Moore of Dahlonega, GA; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; brother, Bobby and Ann Moore of Gainesville, GA; and numerous other relatives survive.

A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jason Hamby officiating.

Frank O. Fox, 87, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday May 2, 2018 at The Oaks at Hampton following a period of declining health. Born September 26, 1930 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Frank and Anna Fox, he had lived in Dawson County over twenty years having moved from Atlanta. Mr. Fox grew up in New Jersey and was a graduate of Seton Hall University. He retired from Coca Cola following 31 years of service. A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, Frank was an accomplished accordion player and enjoyed all sports, especially tennis and golf. He loved living in Dawson County on the lake and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Mary Bob Fox, Dawsonville; children, Frank and Paula Fox, Lebanon, TN, Tom and Gloria Fox, Hazlet, NJ, Tim Fox, Taiwan, Steve and Pam Fox, Douglasville, Karen and Jay Benton, Monroe, Laurie and Andy Prodanovic, River Forest, IL; grandchildren, Michele, Mattie, Lindsey, Reid, Connor, Mary Jo, Jim, Zachary; and great grandchildren, Marie Rose, Everett, Audry and Jackson.

Memorial services will be held Sunday May 6, 2018 at 3 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Stan Lovell will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 until 3 at the funeral home.

Kyle Edward Barrett, 29, of Marble Hill passed away Tuesday April 17, 2018.
Born February 7, 1989, Kyle was a native of Forsyth County and formerly employed as an automobile mechanic. A member of Foothills Church, he was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth “Coon” Barrett.

Surviving are his daughter, Hailey Barrett; mother, Connie Barrett of Marble Hill; sisters and brothers in law, Brittany and Charlie McGuire of Eastanollee, Kayla and Kenneth Weathers, Brianna Lowman of Marble Hill; a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday April 21, 2018 at 4 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Hamby officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Dawsonville.
The family will receive friends on Friday April 20 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lieutenant Colonel (US Army Retired) George William Brookshire, 86, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday March 20, 2018 at his residence.

Bill was born July 28, 1931 in Hoschton, Georgia to the late William L. and Clarice Holland Brookshire. The family lived in Winterville and Madison, GA and he was a 1948 graduate of Madison High School. In the fall of 1948 he entered North Georgia College in Dahlonega and upon graduation in 1952 he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry. He later transferred to the Signal Corps and served overseas tours in the Canal Zone, Korea, Vietnam and Germany as well as many different assignments throughout the United States. In 1971 he graduated from Command and General Staff College. His awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Stars, Meritorious Service Medals, Air Medal and Army Commendation Medals. Bill earned the Combat Infantryman Badge during the Korean Conflict. He was an Eagle Scout and spent much of his military life working with Scouting on various posts where he was stationed. Also preceding him in death were his sons, Kirk William Brookshire, Jeffrey Meyer Brookshire, Timothy George Brookshire; and his brother, James Holland Brookshire.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Jane Moser Brookshire; daughter, Sarah Clarice Brookshire, Gainesville; daughters in law, Cynthia Brookshire, Dawsonville, Kimberly Brookshire, Henderson, MD; and grandchildren, Shannon Clarice Brookshire, William Jeffrey Brookshire, Emily Christine Brookshire, and Amy Katherine Brookshire.

Funeral services will be held Monday March 26, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery.

Georgeann Vick Schanke
Born July 11, 1949 to Dr. George Henry Vick and Sarah Ann Fischer Vick, Georgeann Vick Schanke of Dawsonville, GA passed away on March 6, 2018, following a brief illness. Raised in Charleston, WV and Atlanta, she was a graduate of Georgia Southern University, and later lived on St. Simon’s Island, GA. Georgeann’s love was teaching children. She taught kindergarten through third grade for many years, was an Instructional Lead Teacher, and was named Teacher of the Year at Gwin Oaks Elementary School in Lawrenceville, GA. The youngest of three children, Georgeann was known as the adorable little red-head. She had a spunky personality and sought out fun and laughter in all she did. She loved her friends and family deeply, with an endearing passion and genuine caring for each individual, always selflessly prioritizing others.

She is survived by her stepdaughters, Monica Schanke Donner (Matt), and grandsons, Macintosh and Mercer; Margo Bass (Mark), and grandsons Garrett and Devin; nieces, Clare Stone Jordan (Fred) and Sarah Stone Reeves (Terry); cousins, Anne Vick Birke (Gene), and Christine Vick (Radford Koerner); partner, Kurt Michel, and many close friends and family members. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Leo P. Schanke; her parents; sister, Bonnie Gray Vick Stone, and brother, Charles Edgar Vick. Georgeann’s family wishes to express our gratitude to the staff of Northside Forsyth’s ICU for their dedicated care at the end of her life.

A memorial service as a witness to the resurrection will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church, Dawsonville GA on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 2pm.
