Scam Alert

PRESS RELEASE – The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office issued the following statement on social media in regards to ongoing scams around the county:

“We have a warrant for your arrest!”

Great, now that I have your attention, DON’T fall for this scam.

The FBI, GBI, DCSO, etc., are NOT going to call you and tell you that you have a warrant. Furthermore, NO agency is going to ask you for money over the phone. And lastly, no respectable agency or business is EVER going to demand you send gift cards.

Please remain vigilant, as these scam artists will use real names and entities, but they’re trying to take advantage of our citizens.
