Dawson County Falls Again

Unfortunately, Dawson’s final non-region game ended in ugly fashion. Stephens County only needed three minutes to climb to a 14-0 lead over the Tigers on Friday night. Dawson County would go on to lose 35-0 as they fell to 0-4 on the year. This was Dawson’s second time being shutout this season and the third time they had allowed at least five touchdowns. The defending AAA Region 7 champs look a whole lot different this season. They wrap up their non-region schedule with a -114-point differential.

Team Notes

Neither Maxpreps nor Hudl had individual stats posted for the Tigers. Unofficially, the Tigers have allowed an average of 384.75 YPG, with 172.5 YPG coming from the opposition’s run game. Their offense hasn’t fared any better as they have averaged a mere 6.3 PPG. However, their regional schedule starts off on an easier note as they take on West Hall so let’s hope our Tigers can find their stride and turn the season around.

As for the Indians, they continue their dominating run to start the season with another blowout win. The offense was led by a strong ground game that finished with 222 yards. Jr. Javin Gordon led the way with 140 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries. Sr. back Omari Feaster would add another touchdown and 51 yards on 11 carries. The Indians recorded 15 TFLs as the defense pitched a shutout. Kymani Colbert led the way as the DE finished with a whopping five TFLs. The Indians defense would finish with two interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and five pass deflections.

Looking Ahead

The Tigers limp into a welcomed Bye Week as they turn their sites to region play and the 1-2 West Hall Spartans. As for Stephens County, they will travel to Cleveland, GA to take on the 2-1 White County Warriors.
