DAWSON COUNTY, Ga. –Most of the Board of Commissioners’ Thursday voting session will address zoning requests, including a major new development of 145 semi-attached homes on 30.48 acres requested by Jim King who has requested the property be rezoned from RA (Residential Agriculture) to RMF (Residential Multi-Family).
The voting session will begin immediately following the work session which starts at 4 p.m.

The two items that will be considered under New Business are consideration to move forward with a public hearing for a Timber Harvest Ordinance Update and ratification of emergency purchase of a new commercial hot water heater at Fire Station 1 from K.E. Greene Mechanical/Hydronics for $11,937.
During the work session, Planning Director Jameson Kinley will present an annual update of the county’s Capital Improvement Plan and ask for approval of the plan and authorization to submit it to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.
The update is based on the rules and regulations pertaining to impact fees in Georgia. The impact fee fund balance as of Dec. 31, 2020 was $1,897,682.29.
Amanda Wilkson of Bates, Carter and Company will present the fiscal year 2020 audit.
Human Resources Director Brad Gould will present a review of the county’s Employee Handbook regarding paid time off (PTO). Employees currently can receive a one-time payout of up to 20 PTO hours each calendar year for any unused PTO. A proposed amendment would increase the one-time payout to 40 hours.
There will also be a discussion of the fiscal impacts of the Land Use Report.
County Angela Davis will present a review of the Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Dawsonville concerning the Howser Mill Road Construction Project.
