Rep. Andrew Clyde reaffirms commitment to object to election’s certification, condemns violence
News, Press Release January 6, 2021
WASHINGTON DC – Ninth District Representative Andrew Clyde (R-GA) issued a statement following today’s events at the nation’s Capitol.
“I fully support the right to peacefully protest and I will always defend that right. I also share and understand the frustration of the millions of Americans that feel cheated out of a fair election. That is why I remain steadfast in my decision to object to the certification of electoral votes, and I am prepared to speak on the House floor against certification when the process resumes.
I want to be very clear that I do not support violence as a form of protest. I have seen first-hand that the vast majority of protesters were peacefully exercising their First Amendment rights, but some were not, and that is not acceptable.
I was one of the last members to leave the House floor and I want to commend the Capitol Police for their professionalism during this entire incident.”

I agree with you.Thank you for Representing the dominant values of our district.
What about the rest of us? Do we get no representation?
Can you please supply us with EXACTLY why you feel the election was “unfair”? Please don’t insult me with platitudes, I would like facts have been confirmed by independent sources that validate your views. All I’ve seen or heard are the various news outlets hurling made up, spun-to-their-point of view, stuff.
You are correct, if there are issues that can be proven, fact by fact, than by all means, they should be examined. To have the type of display that our former President allegedly instigated, that’s something else. Any physical attack on our sitting government must come with sever consequences for the individuals involved.
If a member of Congress or the House should claim that one of their fellow members may have suggested that they be physically attacked or hurt is reprehensible, and again, should be dealt with to the maximum levels that the law will allow, BUT, if that member were to to edit or cherry pick their quotes to make them more sensational harkens back to the yellow journalism of the late 19th, early 20th century, and political cronyism of Tammany Hall! Do any of the members of Congress have ANY personal ethics these days? (Those terms USED to make honest, ethical individual shiver and cringe with disgust. Now, I think that’s what anyone with a Twitter account is trying to attain!)
Republicans love voter suppression and forcing their extreme religious views on others and are gun nuts. Republicans lie about everything. I will never vote for a Republican again.
I, like Carolyn Wiebers, would like to know the exact frauds or irregularities there were in our GA election. I have sent at least two requests for this information thru your Contact Form and have not received a reply. I have know Gabriel Sterling since he was a teenager, and he has always been a staunch Republican, so I would believe him over rumors. We deserve to know why you think this way.
When are you going to address the questions posted above? That is, issues that can be proven, fact by fact, then by all means, they should be examined. When are you going to show the proof? Do you realize how many lawsuits that were brought challenging the votes – and which where all thrown out?
Specifics need to be delineated. Proof – not blabber by Pundits nor Cable News actors / actresses. Fact by fact. We all deserve to know if there is anything to the rhetoric and hysteria being supported by you.
You should provide the tourist videos that reflect what you said in your statement. Perhaps you were looking at footage from another day other than Jan 6, 2021. The world saw what happen that day. Why are your eyes deceiving you? I like many others are going to NEVER vote Republican again because of folks like you who are not true Americans but Phoney Politicians only in office to support themselves and partisan politics instead of AMERICAN citizens.
