DAWSON COUNTY, Ga. – Recycling in Dawson County will undergo some major changes. The county will no longer accept plastic. It will accept uncontaminated cardboard and paper as well as metal but only at the Transfer Station 110 Transportation Lane.
Public Works Director David McKee told county commissioners at last week’s meeting there is no longer a market for plastic. McKee said the only way the county could continue to accept plastic would be to find a place to store it.
Commissioner Sharon Fausett expressed the sentiments of most of the commissioners when she said, “Not to recycle goes against every fiber of my body,” Commissioner Sharon Fausett said. “I’ve been recycling for years.”
But storage would cost the county thousands of dollars and that was an expense commissioners are not willing to pass on to taxpayers.
Jim King on behalf of Tri-Mark 400 LLC requests a CPCD (Commercial Planned Community Development) Zoning Stipulation Amendment for TMP 107-319,107-319-005, 107-319-004 and 107-319-002 to remove the age restriction on residential units within the currently zoned CPCD parcels (Blue Ridge Parkway).
The Board approved a request by Jim King on behalf of Tri-Mark 400, LLC to remove the age restriction the currently zoned CPCD parcels (Blue Ridge Parkway).
They also approved a request by Victor Vazemiller to rezone 4.001 acres TMP 098-027-009 from RA (Residential Agriculture) to RSR (Residential Sub-Rural) for the purpose of subdividing the property on Goodson Road.
The request by Scott Adamson for a Special Use Permit for dog kennels located at TMP106-051-017 (Dawson Forest Road East) was withdrawn by the applicant.
