Betty Jo Arrendale: Obituary

Betty Jo Arrendale, 86, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday January 8, 2020 at Seasons Hospice following a period of declining health.

Born November 14, 1933, Betty Jo was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. A graduate of Dawson County High School, she worked as a secretary at Sweet Orr for many years and was also a skilled seamstress who enjoyed making baby blankets for her family and friends. A dedicated member of Juno Baptist Church, Betty Jo was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother who was extremely dedicated to her grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe J. Arrendale; parents, Joseph Monroe and Dosha Mae Burt; sister, Shirley Jean Cofield; brothers, Sam Burt and Merlin Burt.

Betty Jo was a woman who took care of things – especially the people she loved. She was a loyal friend, a hard worker, and a generous giver. Betty was reliable, precise, and thorough. She was someone you could depend on. No one kept a cleaner home!

Betty enjoyed making homemade biscuits, shopping at Belk, and attending every service Juno Baptist Church offered. Betty loved books on tape, gospel music, and mint chewing gum. But most of all, Betty loved God and her family.

Betty’s determination, resilience, and – yes – stubbornness, made her an invaluable source of wisdom to all those who surrounded her.

As her family, we rejoice – knowing assuredly that she is reunited with her heavenly Father and her beloved husband, Joe.

Surviving are her daughter and son in law, Jennifer and Brian Bartlett, Cumming; son and daughter in law, Rick and Deborah Arrendale, Graslake, IL; grandchildren, Allison and Matt Reis, Joseph Arrendale, Jessica and Tommy Brock, Taylor Watson, Holly Crawshaw, Cole Watson; great-grandchildren, Noah, Daniel, Jonah, and Harley Grace Brock, Lilah, Esmae and Sailor Crawshaw; sisters, Maude Harben, Dawsonville, Vaudell Stephens, Dawsonville, Dora Arrendale, Dahlonega; brother and sister in law, J.M. and Marie Burt, Alpharetta.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday January 12, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dennis Bottoms will officiate. Interment will follow in Juno Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the hour of service on Sunday.
