DAWSONVILLE, Ga. — On Sept. 30, Dawson County E911 received reports of a possible structure fire at 11:03 p.m. at 2716 Bailey Waters Rd. in Dawsonville, Ga. At 11:17 p.m., Dawson County Fire units arrived on scene and found a 40-foot by 60-foot detached garage fully involved. The owner of the structure confirmed that all occupants and animals were out of the garage.
Personnel operated in defensive operation, to contain the spread of the fire to wildland and other structures. Several handlines were used to bring this fire under control. A “water shuttle” operation had to be utilized in this area of the county due to lack of fire hydrants.
Dawson County responded with three engine companies, two water tenders, two med units and several Chief Officer’s. There were no firefighter or civilian injures at this incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation but currently does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
