DAWSONVILLE, Ga. – A four-vehicle accident that involves an overturned truck carrying 10,000 pounds of dynamite on Ga. Hwy. 53 near Sundown Way has closed Hwy. 53 in both directions this morning (Sept. 10). The accident occurred east of Ga. 400.

Georgia State Patrol, Dawson County Emergency Services the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office are on the scene and motorists are asked to avoid the area. Units from HAZMAT are also on the scene to clean up an oil spill.

Hwy. 53 is closed in both directions between Blue Ridge Overlook and Dawson Forest Road,
