23rd Annual Dawson County Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic is “biggest and best ever”

DAWSONVILLE, Ga. – When the 23^rd Annual Dawson County Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic teed off at Chestatee Golf Club Monday, the sky was overcast and temperature bearable. By noon, however, the day was just as hot as the competition. Grey skies closed in late in the day, threatening to drench the late-finishing competitors but then passed by without a single drop of rain.

Chamber President Christine Haynes said, “We were blessed that the rain held off. This was one of the biggest and best tournaments ever.” In all, 88 golfers took their best shot at winning. In the end, it was the Troncalli Automative Group of Michael Barlow, Charlie Saines, Clifford Rudd and Billy Peters that took the first place gross title. The Georgia Concrete Supply team of Tom Merrit, Danny Clark, Dave Frank and Kurt Hilbert finished second.

Finishing first in the net event was the Diamond Glass Company team of James Power, Chris Rust, Rick James and Sammy Power. Etowah Water and Sewer Authority was the runnerup. Team members included Josh Wilkens, Richard Ray and Kenneth Pearson.

There were also individual winners. Jay Greenwood won the longest drive competition. Steven Barnett won closest to the pin.

Northside Hospital Forsyth was the presenting sponsor for the event and Northeast Georgia Health System was the Platinum Sponsor while Chick-fil-A provided lunch for the 88 golfers who participated as well as the 25 volunteers who helped organize and work the event.
