On Monday of last week, the Dawson Tigers played host to the Eagles of Mount Bethel Christian Academy out of Marietta, GA.
The Tigers cruised to an easy victory over the Eagles with 16 runs over four innings of play for the big non-region win. Stepping on the mound for Dawson was Sapp and Kelley who combined for 12 K’s, 3 hits and 2 runs. Sapp was credited with the victory throwing 63 pitches in two and two-thirds of work while the gloves behind these 2 Tiger hurlers committed just 1 error in the game.
In the 16 run onslaught by the home team Tigers, the Eagles committed 4 errors and sent three pitchers to the mound. Leading the way for Dawson at the plate was H. Sapp who was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI, 2 walks and 4 RBI followed by B. Lewis-2 for 2 with 1 walk, 4 RBI, and 4 runs scored, K. Kelley-2 for 3, 1 run scored and 6 RBI, and M. Hernandez-1 for1, 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, and 3 walks. Overall the Tigers collected 8 hits in the game and scored runs in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and the 4th to close out the 16-2 win over Mount Bethel. These two teams were scheduled to meet again on Wednesday.
