Sharon Fausett will run for second term on Board of Commissioners

DAWSONVILLE, Ga. – District 1 Commissioner Sharon Fausett announced Thursday that she will run for a second term on the Dawson County Board of Commissioners in 2018.

Fausett is a lifelong resident of Dawson County and a graduate of Dawson County High School and what was then North Georgia College and State University.

She was an educator for three years before leaving to become a caseworker and later a director with the Department of Family and Children Services. In 1984, she left to help out on the family farm.

Fausett said, “I love this county and its people and want to continue to be of service. Making a difference is what I want to do.”

Like all of her colleagues, Fausett voted against a very unpopular development that would have added 177 single-family houses and 95 townhomes near Hwy. 53 and Elliott Road.

She said she was proud of voting in favor of a substantial increase for all Dawson County employees during her first term. “It was their first pay increase in quite some time. It was well-deserved by a dedicated group of employees,” Fausett said.

During her second term, Fausett said her top priority will be to work toward the preservation of Dawson County’s quality of life and its beauty and rural nature. She also wants to see Fire Station 9 and the new Senior Citizen Center built.

She is married to Danny Fausett. The couple has one son, Brett, and three grandchildren.
