William Winston “Wink” Anderson, 89, of Dawsonville and Decatur passed away Wednesday May 17, 2017 in Lumpkin County following a period of declining health.
Wink was born September 26, 1927 in Lumpkin County to the late Price and Estelle Crawford Anderson. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 34 years of service and was a 69 year member of UAW Local 882. A U. S. Army veteran of WW II where he served in the Pacific Theater, he was of the Baptist faith and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Maurice Anderson, David Anderson; and sisters, Merle Russell and Mildred Anderson.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years and 8 months, Jackie Chambers Anderson, Dawsonville and Decatur; daughter and son in law, Wanda and Joel Mayo, Hayesville, NC, son, Tim Anderson, Dawsonville, daughter, Teresa Anderson, Decatur; sisters, Barbara Callaway, Hendersonville, NC, Patsy Higgins, Dawsonville, Mazie Songer, Cumming and special nephew, Mike Russell, Dahlonega; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Saturday May 20, 2017 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. Interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Friday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.
