Lula Townsend, 79, of Cumming passed away Saturday February 4, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Born March 4, 1937 to the late Robert and Bessie Hubbard, she was a lifelong resident of Forsyth County. Lula was a homemaker and was very devoted to her family. She enjoyed gardening, NASCAR and all types of racing. She was a lifelong resident of Cross Roads Baptist Church and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Townsend; sisters, Lillie Mae Daniel, Annie Maude Holbrook; and brothers, L. B. Hubbard, Eldon Hubbard, Junior Hubbard.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Tommy Townsend, Cumming; children, Lisa and Danny Duff, Dawsonville, Joel and Melanie Townsend, Cumming; grandchildren, Dana and Brendan Murphy, Darren and Kim Duff; great grandchildren, Amy Duff, Terence Murphy, Connor Murphy; sister and brother in law, Willise and Jim Bennett, Cumming; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 7, 2017 at 1 o’clock at Cross Roads Baptist Church. Rev. Gary English and Rev. Rodney Pilcher will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at the funeral home.
