DAWSONVILLE, Ga. – A Dawsonville woman was seriously injured in a fiery two-car crash on Dawson Forest Road Tuesday afternoon.
Georgia State Patrol Sergeant Curtis W. Bradshaw, Jr. said 21-year-old Savannah Newton of Dawsonville attempted to turn left onto Dawson Forest Road from Ga. 53 but failed to yield to a Jeep Wrangler traveling south on Dawson Forest Road and driven by 44-year-old Jenny Joyce.
Newton’s car overturned and briefly caught fire but was quickly extinguished. She was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with injuries described as significant but not life-threatening.
She was cited for failure to yield right of way while making a left turn.
Joyce suffered a minor injury from an air bag that deployed, but declined to be transported to the hospital.”
The roadway was blocked for a short amount of time but traffic was able to be rerouted around the crash during the investigation and cleanup.
