DAWSONVILLE, Ga — Less than six months after the Dawson County Board of Commissioners unanimously selected him as county manager, Randall Dowling abruptly announced his resignation Thursday.
In a memo to the Board, Dowling did give the required 60 days notice but gave no reason for his departure.
He will be replaced immediately by the county’s new Chief Financial Officer Vickie Neikirk, who will serve as interim county manager. Neikirk was hired as CFO in April.
Dowling was hired in February to replace Cindy Campbell who also resigned unexpectedly last November.
He served as county manager for Barrow County and county administrator in Gordon and Lee counties prior to coming to Dawson County. His salary in Dawson County is reportedly $100,000 annually.
