Bobbie Ivey, 77, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday May 11, 2016 at Northside Forsyth Hospital following a short illness.
Born July 7, 1938 in Lumpkin County to the late George and Ruby Abercrombie, she lived in Dawson County for the past 45 years having moved from Hall County. A homemaker at her death, along with her husband they owned and operated a farm. During her life, Bobbie was a foster mother to 84 children. She was of the Baptist faith and was also preceded in death by her sisters, Brenda Sears, Annie Meredith; and brothers, David Abercrombie and Ricky Abercrombie.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, William “Jim” Ivey, Dawsonville; children, Rhonda and Dawson Whitmire, Dawsonville, Randy and Wanda Edwards, Dawsonville, Tracey Turner, Dahlonega; sister and brother in law, Faye and Charles Gardner, Dawsonville; 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Saturday May 14, 2016 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. James Lemley will officiate. Interment will follow in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2 until 8 at the funeral home.
