DAWSONVILLE, Ga. — Georgia Department of Transportation awarded contracts for 10 construction projects in June, including the widening of Hulsey Road in Dawson County. The total cost of the contracts was just over $28 million.
The largest project awarded was for the third phase of the Cleveland Bypass in White County. That widening project represents an $11 million investment in White County. It was awarded to CMES, Inc.
GDOT also awarded the contract for a long-awaited widening of Hulsey Road. The project will start at the intersection of State Route 11/US129 and end at the intersection with State Route 75. Hulsey Road will be widened to 4-lanes with a center turn lane. This project is estimated to be complete 510 days from start date.
State Route 53 in Dawson and Forsyth counties, will be resurfaced from State Route 183 and extending south of Chestatee Height Road. C.W. Matthews Contracting Co. Inc. will be doing the work which has an estimated completion of December 15, 2020.
