Joe Quarles: Obituary

Joe Quarles, 72, of Dawsonville passed away Saturday October 13, 2018 at Landmark Hospital in Athens following a period of declining health.
Born May 6, 1946 and raised in Ellijay, Mr. Quarles had been a resident of Dawson County for most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Helen Quarles, brother, James Quarles and sister, Gloria Chester.
Surviving are his son, J.L. Quarles of Oakwood; step-sons, Mike Eddings, Barry and Lisa Miller, all of Clarkesville; brothers and sister in law, Forrest Quarles, W.C. and Vickie Quarles, all of Dawsonville; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday October 16, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ronnie Sosebee will officiate. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Tails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellijay.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the service hour.

James “Jimmy” Thomas Hart: Obituary

James “Jimmy” Thomas Hart, 39, of Dawsonville, GA passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018. Jimmy was the son of Ronald “Ron” Joseph Hart and the late Angela D. Ward Hart. He was born at the 97th General Hospital in Frankfurt, Germany on September 4, 1979.

Jimmy loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a loving hands on father of three boys, always doing boy stuff and just having fun.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Angela D. Ward Hart; paternal grandparents, Joseph H. and Louise D. Hart of Rome, GA.

Jimmy is survived by the mother of his children, Jennifer McDowell Hart; children, Kirk McDowell, Preston Hart and Trevor Hart all of Dawsonville, GA; parents, Ronald J. and Sheila Hart of Palm Coast, FL; brothers, Ronald Joseph (Joe) and Nicole Hart of Dawsonville, GA, Nicholas and Anne Higgins of Bonaire, GA, Kyle and Kaitlyn Higgins of Palm Coast, FL; maternal grandparents, James and Audrey Ward; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary Elizabeth Thomason Seitz, 86, of Dahlonega passed away Wednesday October 10, 2018 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Born and raised in Clermont, Ga., Mary lived most of her life in Forsyth County until moving to Dahlonega in 2005. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Cumming. A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was preceded in death by her husband, L.D. Seitz; parents, Charley and Idell Thomason; brothers, Harold Thomason, Charles Thomason; sisters, Eris Thomason, Martha Ann Wylie.
Surviving are her sons and daughter in law, Tommy Seitz, Dahlonega, Robby and Michelle Seitz, Cumming; daughters and sons in law, Becky and Roger Townley, Cumming, Linda and Norris Hughes, Dawsonville, Vanessa and Lamar Day, Dawsonville; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Sunday October 14, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Brody Hughes, Rev. Johnathan Seitz, Rev. Austin Seitz and Rev. Roger Townley will officiate. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery in Dahlonega.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday October 13 from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Sunday until the hour of service.

Winifred “Winnie” Estelle Stagl: Obituary

Winifred “Winnie” Estelle Stagl, 97, of Cumming, GA passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Gracemont Assisted Living. Born in Boston, MA on July 9, 1921 to Roy and Evelyn (Brown) McDonald, She lived in Newton, MA during her youth and attended Chandler Secretarial School in Boston. She enlisted in the Navy as a WAVE during WWII, serving in the secretarial pool, at Great Lakes, IL. After marriage to Frank Michael Stagl she lived in Dix Hills, NY where she raised her family. She served as a Brownie leader and on the West Suffolk Girl Scout Council (Long Island) and was involved in the PTA. She was a legal secretary for William Ahern Agency, Kings Park, NY and retired from Toaz, Buck, Meyers Agency in Huntington, NY. In retirement she volunteered at the local food bank and at the V.A. Hospital in Northport, N.Y. She was a member of the Dix Hills Historical Society, a long time member of Central Presbyterian Church in Huntington, NY and attended The Presbyterian Church of Sweet Hollow in Melville, NY. She enjoyed golf, theater, concerts and museums. Her passion for travel took her to many countries around the world. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Michael Stagl, grandaughter, Andrea Leonhardt, and 3 siblings. Surviving are her children, Dianne (William) Leonhardt of Dawsonville, GA, Kathryn Stagl of Emmaus, PA, Peter Stagl of Morris Plains, NJ, and Sharon (John) Doherty of Huntington Beach, CA, sister, Virginia McNiff of Wayland, MA, grandchildren, Stacey (Andrew Garbos) Leonhardt, William (Amy) Leonhardt Jr., Marc (Andrew Uriarte) Parees, Ben Parees, Jaime (Gilad) Jacobs, Danielle (MaryAnn) Santana, Carly Stagl and 5 great grandchildren. Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements. She will be interred at Long Island National Cemetery in Melville, NY. A graveside service will be held at a date to be determined. Billy A. Wise, 75, of Dawsonville passed away Monday October 8, 2018 at his residence following a period of declining health.
Born March 29, 1943 in Hemingway, South Carolina to the late James Thomas and Anna Ruth Wise, he lived in Lumpkin County for the past 5 years having moved from Garden City, South Carolina. Mr. Wise owned and operated BW&Me for over 40 years until his retirement. He possessed a deep love for Jesus and was a very devoted Christian family man. He also enjoyed western movies and ice cream. A member of the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Elaine Wise Teal and a brother, James Thomas Wise, Jr.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Nancy J. Sharon McKinzie Waldrip, 39 of Dawsonville, GA passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, GA. She was a loving mother, daughter and sister that loved to garden.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Waldrip.

She is survived by her son, Blake Burnett of Gainesville, GA, daughter, Maddie Burnett of Gainesville, GA, step daughter, Georgia Waldrip of Dawsonville, GA; parents, Jimmy and Tammy McKinzie of Dawsonville, GA; sisters and brothers in law, Jennifer and Jeff McIntyre of Pendergrass, GA, Sheila and Tony Ward of Dawsonville, GA; nephews, Troy McIntyre of Pendergrass, GA, Dylan Samples of Cumming, GA, Drake Samples of Cumming, GA.

Stacey Duncan, 44, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday October 7, 2018 at her residence.
Stacey was born February 8, 1974 and had lived in Dawson County for the past 15 years having moved from Gwinnett County. She was employed as a manager at The Ridge in Cumming. Stacey loved to laugh and she loved everyone and everyone loved her.
Surviving are her children, Kirsten Brodnax, Roswell, Ethan Duncan, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Adelyn Robinson, Ashton Robinson; her companion, Perry Curl, Dawsonville; mother, Sharon Thomas, Dahlonega; adoptive father and stepmother, Harvey and Denise Langabeer, Lawrenceville; father, Alvin Bloodworth, Acworth; and several brothers and sisters.
A celebration of Stacey’s life will be held Saturday October 13, 2018 at 4 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Jeff Burrell will officiate.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 3 until 4 at the funeral home.
