Dawson Dominates Lumpkin At Home

Sports

The Tigers of Dawson hosted the Indians of Lumpkin Co. on Wednesday in region play at Tiger Field.  Coming off a win that saw a great pitching duel, this game was just the opposite.  Palmer Sapp would dominate the Indian Bats and shut down any hopes of the Indians getting a victory.

Sapp stepped on the mound and the magic started for the Tiger hurler.  Palmer Sapp threw ninety-seven pitches with sixty-two of those being strikes.  In the seven inning complete game, Sapp gave up zero runs on four hits. He issued one walk and had ten strikeouts on the day. Palmer Sapp also helped his cause at the plate going 1-3 with a two run homer over the leftfield wall in the bottom of the first to get the scoring started for the Tigers.  The Tigers added one more run in the first to carry a 3-0 lead after one complete.

The Tigers took a break from scoring through the second, third innings and in the fourth they fired up the bats and continued to rack up on the runners crossing the plate.  The Tigers added four runs in the fourth by way of three hits, a walk, a hit batsmen and a sacrifice bunt.  Tigers scored the final run of the game in the fifth to put the game out of reach for the Indians who were shut down by great pitching.  Providing the offense for the Tigers were Hudson Sapp(2-3 with one walk, an RBI and two runs scored),  Kristian Kelley(2-3 with an RBI) and Nathan Sorrells(1-2 with 2 walks, 2 RBI and scored 1 run.

The Tigers will travel to Oakwood, GA to face the West Hall Spartans in a non region game on Monday April 2nd starting at 5:55 pm.
