Jessie LaMerle “Sam” Holtzclaw Singleton, 74, of Dawsonville passed away Monday January 2, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.

Mrs. Singleton was born August 8, 1942 and raised in Cumming and Alpharetta. She had been a resident of Dawsonville for most of her life. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she worked very hard to raise her family. She was an avid reader and regular patron of the Dawson County Library. An attendant of Goshen Baptist Church, Mrs. Singleton loved southern gospel music and had worked for over 20 years as a cashier at the Circle M in downtown Dawsonville. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ball and sister, JoAnne Oliver.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Johnny Singleton, Dawsonville; children, Teresa Singleton, Lynn (Donald) Fouts, Tony (Laura) Singleton, all of Dawsonville, Shanna (George) Deitsh, Montana; grandchildren, Amber Singleton, Brian (April) Fouts, Kyle (Wendy) Singleton, John Hendrix, Savanna Fouts; Four great grandchildren; sisters, Ruenell (Roy) Ingram, Mary Sue McGinnis, Elaine Reid; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Thursday January 5, 2017 at 1 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ronny Bennett and Rev. Tommy Panter will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 until 8.
